네이버에 세미콜론 이라고 검색하시면 세미콜론의 쓰이는 방법을 알수 있습니다.
영미시에서도 아마 같은 이유로 쓰는경우가 많을거에요. 대표적으로 앞뒤문장이 연결되거나 밀접관관계가 있는경우겠지요 저도 영문과를 졸업한지 좀 됬는데,,, 영미시 배울때 재밌었는데, 작품하나하나 배울때 생각을 많이 하게 되더군요. 물론 당시에는 정말..힘들었지만..

영문과시니까 위키에서 punctuation 용법에 나온 설명 중 핵심 문장만 따 오겠습니다.
Applications of the semicolon in English include 1. Between closely-related independent clauses not conjoined with a coordinating conjunction 2. Between independent clauses linked with a transitional phrase or a conjunctive adverb 3. Between items in a series or listing containing internal punctuation, especially parenthetic commas, where the semicolons function as serial commas The following classification of the functions that a colon may have, given by Luca Serianni (a pioneer of the colon) for Italian usage,[1] is generally valid for English and many other languages: 1.syntactical-deductive: introduces the logical consequence, or effect, of a fact stated before 2.syntactical-descriptive: introduces a description—in particular, makes explicit 3.appositive: introduces a sentence with the role of apposition with respect to the previous one 4.segmental: introduces a direct speech, in combination with quotation marks and dashes. The segmental function was once a common means of indicating an unmarked quotation on the same line. 영시라면 특히 운율상의 문제로 접속사를 쓰고 싶지 않을 때 세미 콜론을 자주 쓸 것 같네요.
