-----------------------------------------

[Grade-B column by sylent] is the grade-B discourse about StarLeague between sylent(Jongwha Park), who prefers Starleague to Worldcup and is fascinated by the clever all-in strategies rather than the boring mass combats, and Wang-il(Hyunjoon Kim), being a StarLeague lover as much as sylent, with more emphasis on balances among maps and races for the day of stable and common plays would prevail.

[Grade-B column by sylent] Bonjoa vs others

(*Translator's Note: "Bonjoa" refers to the best gamer of the time, almost unbeatable during his dominance. It has a similar meaning to his Majesty, but is different in a way because Bonjoa does not govern or rule his own regime. So far four players have been given the name; SlayerS_Boxer, NaDa, iloveoov and sAviOr.)

I call the undefined Aura Bonjoa(wherever the origin of the word came from), which was started by 'the Emperor' SlayerS_Boxer, then inherited to 'the Genius' NaDa and 'the Monster' iloveoov, and continued to 'Maestro' sAviOr. And there are other players who ran vigorously for the crown of 'Bonjoa', only to stop off with a failure to mark a turning point in their fans' minds, such as July, Nal_rA, ChoJJa and Reach. However, they managed to build another position.

Bonjoa vs others

What answers will be given out if the Koreans with the 'illusion of the rich' are asked, "with how much money will you consider yourself rich?" There will be a generally agreeable amount, however, if inspected thoroughly, the answers will be nothing but the expressions of subjective opinions of 'I would like to have this much amount of money.'

Should the definition of 'Bonjoa' be subjective in nature, it would not be confirmed with a single sentence. Of course, mere numbers, such as more than 70% of winning rate for at least 3 months or winning the championship in both leagues, cannot explain the meaning of the word, either. If someone claims that "Bonjoa should maintain at least 65% winning rate for more than a year," does it mean that a player with 64% winning rate does not deserve the title of Bonjoa? If someone else demands over 70% winning rate, the one with 65% has to be dropped out from the Bonjoa arguments. Or if someone suggests that "Bonjoa should win both leagues," then there is no way to correspond to the argument of a fan of NaDa; the criterion of Bonjoa is the achievement of the Grand Slam.

My Bonjoa

I will say the difference between Bonjoa and others is by 'feeling.'

(Even before they are given the title) My focus was not on the winning formula of how Boxer, NaDa, iloveoov and sAviOr would produce victory, but on 'who' would acquire a victory 'in which way' against them. Thus I remember when 'the Hero' Reach won against Boxer in Neo Forbidden Zone, when 'the Dreamer' Nal_rA beat NaDa in Charity, when 'God of Fighter' July defeated iloveoov in Nostalgia and 'the Wonder Boy' ChoJJa triumphed over sAviOr in Ride of Valkyries.

Nevertheless, (even before the above-mentioned became quasi-Bonjoa) I couldn't help wondering how they would handle their opponents; the crazy fighting power of July, the almost-magic strategies of Nal_rA to make the dream come true, the productivity of ChoJJa that overwhelmed the entire map and the catharsis by Reach. Their games were attractive enough to make the audiences stand up for more. I wanted to watch their victories and hail their plays.

This is my standard to determine 'Bonjoa.' Those who make me wonder how they will lose the game are considered to be Bonjoa, and those who make me want to watch how they win the game are in the category of quasi-Bonjoa. I feel this categorization makes sense. That's why I put a lot of expectation on 'Daeinbae' GGplay; I wonder who will defeat him, rather than how he will achieve a victory.

(*Translator's Note: 'Daeinbae' is a coined word among starcraft fans, as a contrary concept to 'Soinbae,' a narrow-minded person in Korean.)
